As a new employee of SAM Intensivists, we have tried to put together a process to prepare you to operate as a solo practitioner.
SAM Intensivists APP Orientation
Duration:
8 weeks (one schedule rotation)
Designated trainer:
Each new APP is paired with SAM-I Trainers and works their schedule. Schedule will be made and distributed to well in advance before start date.

Educational requirements:
- The following are required to be completed by the end of the 8-week orientation period.
- SCCM Virtual Critical Care Rounds 2 (Website)
- SAM-I Quizzes completed (Click for all Quizzes)
- SOCCA Guidebook reviewed (Click to download)
- SAM Practice Rationales (Click to download)
- SAM-I Bite Size QI (Click to download)
- Arrow CVL Course
- CVL simulation course to be put on by either Eric, Kate, Chris or Austin. Emphasis on sterile technique in addition to safety/tricks of CVL placement.
- Additional coursework assigned on the SAM Midlevel site

- Each APP is given an CME allowance of $800 a year in addition to $200 that can be used towards license renewal. Expense report is to be filled out, receipts attached and emailed to kathy.hoyt@aapcal.com.
